Reservoirs :
The main Triassic TAGI fluvial plain is considered as a
primary target in the southern part of the block. This reservoir
is an oil and gas proven reservoir in Sanhar and Jebel Grouz
fields, immediately at the south corner of the block. Shales and
anhydrites above the Tagi reservoir provide excellent seal
capacity.
The Ordovician and Cambrian sandstone, widely developed within
the block, were regarded as a secondary targets. The Lower
Ordovician Hamra quartzite is fractured reservoir producing in
El Franing and Sabria fields located further to the north-west
of the block. The Hamra Quartzite also tested about 600BCPD from
the Chaabat El Markanti -1 well discovery, 100Km to the south-east
of the Block.
Source Rocks :
The Lower Silurian Tannezuft source rock subcrops the
Paleozoic angular unconformity. All the timing elements within
the block such migration and trapping appear favorable.
Traps :
The trap types are dominated by faulted blocks and combined
stratigraphic and structural. timing of trap within this block
is similar to Hassi R’mel in Algeria.
In addition, the southern Tagi braided fluvial plain combining
with northern sourced alluvial/fluvial system within a series of
fault blocks should resulted in a high probability of trapping.
