The Ksar Ghilane Block is located within
a proven hydrocarbon province as demonstrated by numerous oil
and gas fields producing from Ordovician fractured quartzite (
Sabria and El Franig and Baguel fields).
Reservoirs :
The main reservoirs in this block are made of quartizitic
sandstone belonging to the Ordovician and Cambrian. The Triassic
TAGI sandstones pinchout progressively against the Telemzane
Arch may constitute a good stratigraphic targed.
Source Rocks:
The proven mature source rocks known in the area is
materialized by the Silurian Tannezuft hot shales . The Azzel
Shales within the Ordovician section can be additional source
rock for the block.
Traps :
The trapping system in the zone include tilted fault
blocks, faulted anticlines, low amplitude anticlines and
stratigraphic traps (pinch out, channel fill, unconformities –
related).
