Blocks: ROUHIA BLOCK |

GEOGRAPHICAL
SETTING
The Rouhia block is located in Central Tunisia, about 30 km
east of Thala city South-Eastern onshore,Tunisia.
ACREAGE
152 km².
PREVIOUS
EXPLORATION
About 106 km of seismic have been recorded and one well,
Rouhia-1 (ROH-1) has been drilled within the block. The rich
geological outcrops and wells surrounding the block provide
additional data.
GEOLOGICAL
SETTING
The Rouhia block lies within the central part of Tunisia
Atlas characterized by different morphostructural styles. The
latter is dominated by folds, trending northeast-southwest and
asymmetrical anticlines separated by large transverse grabens
mainly oriented northwest-southeast and formed of Mesozoic and
Cenozoic rocks.
In term of paleogeography, this block is dominated during the
Cretaceous by a platform basin transitional zone where the
Albian Fahdene shales and Upper Cenomanian-Lower Turonian
Bahloul laminated limestones are good source rocks for the
Cretaceous carbonates and especially the Aptian Serj carbonates.
HYDROCARBON
POTENTIAL
Reservoirs :
The main reservoirs are the reefal carbonates of the Aptian
Serj Formation, proven reservoirs in the nearby Tamsmida (120 km
southwest) and Douleb (60 km southwest) oil fields.
The fractured chalky limestone of the Campanian Abiod formation
and the Jurassic Nara dolomite may constitute a secondary target
especially near the graben borders.
Source Rocks :
Excellent source rock is represented by the laminated and
organic-rich Bahloul Formation.
The Toarcian middle Nara black shales and carbonates may
constitute additional source intervals for especially Jurassic
Nara reservoirs.
Traps :
include tilted fault blocks, anticline, wrench faulting
structures, reefs and unconformity traps.
